2024 Q2 Newsletter
This newsletter provides updates on a significant enhancement to the API response when updating a person. Additionally, it includes details about the redesign of the Solutions Gallery.
Upcoming Changes
Person UPDATE Enhancement [IMPORTANT!]
The response for a successful POST to the Person endpoint (https://www.familysearch.org/developers/docs/api/tree/Person_resource#POST) has been simplified so that the handling of this response will enable your application to obtain the Event Conclusions IDs without making additional requests.
- Depending on how many conclusions were written, the status code was a 201 or 204. Now, the only response code for a successful post will be a 200.
- For a single successful conclusion, the Conclusion ID was included in an X-Entity-Id header. Now, all Conclusion IDs will be returned in the response-body no matter how many conclusions were written.
This enhancement is available today by adding a Pending Modification Experiment (return.conclusion.ids) to the request. This behavior will eventually become the default behavior as early as October 1, 2024.
Redesign of the Solutions Gallery
The FamilySearch Solutions Gallery has been significantly redesigned from the complex app-store experience to a single static page at https://www.familysearch.org/en/innovate/solutions-gallery. All integrated products will continue to be featured on this page. Please take a look to see how your products are featured and contact Developer Support if you would like to modify your listing. Here are the guidelines for all Solutions Gallery listings:
- Logo: The logo graphic provided must be a 300 x 210 pixel .png image with the logo embedded in the center of a white rectangle or with a white border around the logo.
- Link Target: A link must be provided to a landing page on your website relevant to FamilySearch users that want more details regarding your integrated products.
- Platform Details: What platform(s) is your product(s) available in? (Web, Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS, Registered Service)
- Product Information: Provide 1-3 short bullets about your product(s) (50 characters or less for each bullet)
