The FamilySearch Developer Portal is the starting point for building with the FamilySearch API. From there you can:

Get Started — Use the Get Started button to begin the process of obtaining a developer key
View documentation — Browse guides and API reference documentation

The portal is actively expanding. Future updates will allow you to obtain keys and manage your solutions directly, without needing to contact support.

For technical questions about the FamilySearch API, use the Q&A Discussions forum. This is the best place for implementation questions, troubleshooting, and community answers.

Copy an App Key to Another Environment

App Keys are managed per environment (Beta, Production) and do not automatically carry over. Include:

Your App Key
Source environment
Target environment(s)

Register or Update an OAuth Callback URI

All OAuth redirect URIs must be pre-registered before use. Include:

Your App Key
The callback URI to register
Which environment(s) to register it on (Beta and/or Production)

Compromised or Lost API Key

Your App Key (if known)
A description of the situation
