2025 Q4 Newsletter

This quarter’s newsletter highlights the annual Beta data refresh, an update regarding user owned trees, and the changelog.

Annual Beta Data Refresh

In preparation for the 2026 RootsTech Conference March 5-7, the Beta environment will undergo a data refresh from Production. Starting Wednesday, December 10, the Beta environment will be temporarily unavailable while data is updated and dependencies are restored. We anticipate that development and testing in Beta can resume within a few days, once all supported services have been validated.

If you have important test data in Beta, we recommend backing it up offline so you can restore it after the refresh is complete.

User Owned Tree Feature (CETs)

While the familysearch.org user testing phase for CETs is complete, development work has continued with a number of partner products implementing these new features. The [CET] API Guide provides a developer overview of this functionality and guidance on integrating with these resources. If you already have an integrated product, the updated endpoints will function the same way as those you are familiar with. If you are not ready to implement these enhancements, your product will continue to operate as it does today. Please contact us if you still have questions regarding CETs.

Changelog

Over the past few months, we’ve published regular changelog entries announcing new endpoints, bug fixes, and minor updates. For additional details on these changes, please refer to the API Reference Guide or use the enhanced search tool located in the upper-right corner of each page. Documentation is continuously updated to reflect these improvements. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at [email protected].
