We are building a paid genealogy research service. Our customers interact with our application and maintain their family information within our service. We do not want to require customers to maintain a FamilySearch Family Tree or use FamilySearch as their primary genealogy interface.

Can an approved FamilySearch application programmatically search historical records and use permitted returned record data to perform genealogy research for its users while keeping the research workflow within the third-party application?

Specifically, can our application search for historical individuals/records based on information supplied by our users, receive sufficient indexed information to evaluate potential matches, and present the resulting genealogical findings within our application?

We are happy to provide required FamilySearch attribution. Our concern is whether FamilySearch requires the end user to leave our application or have/use a FamilySearch account in order for our application to perform useful historical-record research.
